Owens Coffee is thrilled to be a sponsor of the Totnes Independent Coffee Festival! Anyone who has visited Totnes will know that the town has a thriving café culture.  This has been celebrated during the festival in recent weeks with many coffee related promotions throughout, and culminates today with a barista competition for the Totnes based baristas, held in the Civic Square. The baristas will be using our very own Owens Coffee and we will also be helping to judge the competition!

The event has been initiated by Transition Town Totnes, who have worked with the Totnes Fairtrade Group to raise the profile of quality fairtrade coffee.  We were really impressed to discover that in proportion to its size, Totnes has one of the highest number of cafés, restaurants and shops using or selling fairtrade products in the UK!  Good going Totnes!

We’re starting the day (from 10am) at the Totnes Good Food Market and can’t wait to spend some time with the local baristas and see what they do with our coffee!

What with that and the fact that the Olympic Torch relay is heading through the area, the South Hams has a lot to celebrate today!
